Kindergarten we have built


** Update (August 2007)

  • Pamardi Siwi Kindergarten (32 pupils)
    This quaint kindergarten was opened in May 2007 complete with an exciting playground. The rebuilding of this kindergarten was made possible thanks to funding provided by the Happy Hearts Fund.
  • Lestari Turi Kindergarten / Sophia’s Sunshine School (40 pupils)
    This kindergarten was opened on Sunday 27th May 2007, exactly one year after the quake. We would like to thank Sharon Bloodworth and her daughter Sophia for their generous donation allowing us to rebuild Lestari Turi and their ongoing support of the BKP and our endeavors to improve the education of children here in Bantul.
  • Pager Gunung Kindergarten & Community Centre (1200 adults and children will benefit from this project)
    We were very excited to witness the opening of the Pager Gunung Kindergarten and Community Centre as was the village of Pager Gunung. Located in Piyungan, this has been one of our biggest projects to date. We sincerely thank Petra Nemcova’s Happy Hearts Fund for the donation and support of this project.
  • Karangtengah Kindergarten / Knocknarea Kindergarten(28 pupils)
    This kindergarten is the second to be built by the Irish charity SIRF (Strandhill Indonesian Relief Fund). We thank SIRF and the people of Strandhill for their continued support of the BKP.
  • Saradan Kindergarten (45 pupils)
    Set in the hills of Dlingo sub-district, the children of Saradan kindergarten were in a tent for 11 months but, thankfully, with the help of AIG and CHF International we were able to begin work in May. The community’s new kindergarten is stunning with the chief of the village going so far as saying it is the best kindergarten in the entire sub-district. Thank you again to AIG and CHF International for your generous donation.
  • Karangasem Kindergarten (25 pupils)
    Our second kindergarten to be built in Dlingo sub-district, Karangasem Kindergarten is another gorgeous location complete with a fun playground. Funding for this kindergarten was provided by the Happy Hearts Fund.
  • ABA Glagah Tamanan Kindergarten (48 pupils)
    This kindergarten is the second kindergarten we have built for ‘Aisyiyah, the Muslim women’s organization of Muhammadiyah. It is a pleasure to work with ‘Aisyiyah again. Thank you to Happy Hearts for another kind donation.
  • Kajor Wetan Kindergarten / Cullenamore Kindergarten (30 pupils)
    Kajor Wetan is SIRF’s third kindergarten to be built. Again we sincerely thank SIRF and the community of Strandhill for their support and their commitment to improve the education of Bantul children.
  • ABA Suren Kindergarten (46 pupils)
    ABA Suren is the third kindergarten we have built for ‘Aisyiyah, the Muslim women’s organization of Muhammadiyah. This was another Happy Hearts funded project.
  • Karangtalun Kindergarten (25 pupils)
    Karangtalun Kindergarten is our seventh kindergarten to build in the Imogiri sub-district. Many thanks to Happy Hearts for funding the rebuilding of this kindergarten.

** Update - March 2007

  • Pucung Kindergarten (39 pupils)
    In March 2007 the BKP opened its eighth kindergarten in Pucung. The rebuilding of this kindergarten was a combined effort of the Happy Hearts Fund and the Rotary Club of Seminyak, Bali, Indonesia. Thank you again to both organisations for their assistance.
  • Ngijo Kindergarten (33 pupils)
    This is the first kindergarten we have opened in 2007 and our fifth so far. Located in Piyungan sub-district it has taken pride of place in the village of Ngijo. Due to it’s wonderful facilities and exciting playground, Ngijo Kindergarten has been chosen by the sub-district’s education office to host this year’s annual kindergarten competitions. Thank you Happy Hearts.
  • ABA Dahromo Kindergarten (67 pupils)
    In February 2007 the BKp very proudly opened its first ABA kindergarten in Bantul. ABA kindergartens are a part of ‘Aisyiyah, the Muslim women’s organisation of Muhammadiyah. The funds for this kindergarten were raised during a charity dinner and art auction at Warisan restaurant in Bali, Indonesia. Many thanks to Warisan restaurant and the patrons who attended the evening and gave so generously.
  • Kwasen Kindergarten (53 pupils)
    Also in February, we opened our second kindergarten in Piyungan. We would like to thank the Happy Hearts Fund for their generous donation enabling us to build the kindergarten. We would also like to thank our dear friends James Campbell and Adam Gavzer for their wonderful donation through our ‘Pledge a Playground’ program allowing us to build an exciting and spacious playground for the pupils of Kwasen Kindergarten.
  • Al-Fatah Kindergarten (43 pupils)
    In October 2006 we opened our first kindergarten in Imogiri sub-district, Bantul.
    The opening of Al-Fatah kindergarten was attended by Petra Nemcova  and Leilani Johnson from the Happy Hearts Fund, Robert Curran, Michel and Pascale Doumeng who all contributed to the re-building of this kindergarten.
  • Siwi Lestari Strandhill Kindergarten (42 pupils)
    Early November our second kindergarten was opened in Pleret sub-district, Bantul. This kindergarten was funded by the Irish charity Strandhill Indonesian Relief Fund (SIRF)
  • Nogosari Kindergarten (34 pupils)
    In early December  we opened Nogosari Kindergarten also in Imogiri. Thank you again to the Happy Hearts Fund.
  • Sriharjo Kindergarten (38 pupils)
    Also in December we saw the opening of Sriharjo Kindergarten and community playground, another Happy Hearts project.
